This original typeface was my primary project at Cooper Type. Brightcut was designed to be an alternative to commonly-used typefaces prevalent in fashion and beauty. Inspired by the high-contrast Didones used in fashion, but decidedly low-contrast and based in calligraphy, Brightcut uses gentle curves and natural notches that derive from the broad nib pen. The italic is a departure from the roman style and is inspired by George Salter's book jackets of the 1950s.
